The crux of the quantity control while mass cargo delivery is minimizing unloading loss.
One of the unloading methods used in sea transport is reloading the cargo on trucks, which then are weighted and directed to warehouses.
Currently each truck used in the unloading process is automatically identified in the key locations, like "Storage site No.1", "Warehouse X" etc., by equipping trucks with active RFID tags. Tags emit their unique identification numbers, that are being register automatically every time the truck is in the field of RFID active readers.
Registered information contains data like: ID data related with the truck and the exact time of identification in particular location or area.
Implementing active RFID system brought the effect of loss reduction from the level of 0,5% to 0,2%.
In case of 30 000 tons cargo it means improvement of the loss from 150 to 60 tons, what for cargo worth 800 USD/ton effects decrease the value of loss for about 27 000 USD per one unloaded ship.

RFID in galvanizing plants
RFID tag is attached to the proper element before isolation process. Using RFID reader - information like Identification Number of each element, date of manufacturing and name of manufacturer are written to the tag.
After drying isolated element , in the course of dispensing elements to the recipient, the data from tag are read and all data related to it (ID number, date and time of sending) are captured and transferred to the data base.
Recipient controls received elements with mobile reader. All captured data and information are again transferred to the data base. Further movement of tagged elements, reading and writing process and type of added information depends from users needs and involved companies features.
